What is Vitcas Heatproof Mortar?
Vitcas Heatproof Mortar is ready to use mixed refractory (heat resistant) cement, supplied in a smooth trowelling consistency which will form a strong air- dried bond with all grades of dense and insulating firebricks. It is rated for use up to 1400 ºC, well in access of any temperature to be found in domestic applications.
Vitcas Heatproof Mortar is specially formulated to minimise settling out in the tub, and its fine texture ensures smoke and gas-tight joints. In normal use 10kg will set approximately 40 standard fire bricks, 9”x 4.50”x 3”
Where to use Vitcas Heatproof Mortar
Vitcas Heatproof Mortar is ideal for setting firebricks and insulating materials, setting firebricks in room heaters, building out fireplaces and boiler areas. In fact, use Vitcas Heat proof Mortar almost anywhere you’d use ordinary mortar, but where a heat-resistant product is required.
It is suitable for all kinds of INTERIOR use, but must not to be used outdoors.
How to use Vitcas Heatproof Mortar
To achieve the best bond and to ensure smoke and gas-tight joints, all surfaces to which Vitcas Heatproof Mortar is to be applied should be clean and free from grease, dust and dirt. Stir contents of tub thoroughly to a uniform consistency and apply by trowel, making sure are areas to be joined are totally covered with Vitcas Heat Proof Mortar.
IMPORTANT – Do not alter consistency of Vitcas HeatProof Mortar from that supplied.
Vitcas Heat proof Mortar is the correct consistency to give a tight join, maximum 3mm (1/8”), using less material than ordinary bricklaying mortar. This is correct ensure a long long lasting smoke and gas-tight joint. Remove any excess Vitcas Heatproof Mortar from jointed surfaces and point as required. Discard waste material. Drying and hardening will be helped by the application or gentle heat as soon as the work is completed. Thoroughly clean tools immediately with water.
